Meet Melissa

Owner, Professional Organizer, Designer, Home Staging Expert

Hi! I’m Melissa, the owner of Simple Spaces. I am a wife and a mother of three wonderful boys. I enjoy everything outdoors, running, competing in triathlons, dancing, wild adventures with my family, spending quality time with friends, decorating, re-purposing old things, and I have a passion for organizing. As a wife and mother, I have learned that we are all happier and more at ease when our home is in order. The chaos of living in disorganization turns into stress for the entire family. I have also learned the extreme value in home staging from my personal experience of selling a home while having a dog and 3 small children.

Background

I hold a Bachelor’s in Family and Community Services from East Carolina University. After spending a few years working in the mental health/human services field, my husband and I had our first of 3 sons. I became a full-time mom and treasured the time with my little ones. Being a mother is what propelled me into pursuing organizing and home staging as a career. I have learned in this season how to move from “survival mode” to where we are actually “living” and enjoying life right where we are, and organization plays a huge role in that.

Meet Anne-Cécile

Professional Organizer, Staging Assistant, Home Management Expert

As a mother of 5, including twins, I am a great multitasker. Raised in Switzerland, I was taught order, cleanliness and perfection. Those are not always easy to uphold in every day life, but they are perfect for this job! My first language is French. I love running on the beach or soaking up the sun whenever I get a break in my busy life. I also play the recorder and enjoy painting and drawing.

Background

In Switzerland I studied at the Geneva University and have a masters in Sciences of Education. I headed a program for the young and unemployed before I moved to Charlotte, NC with my husband to attend a school of ministry. We were both hired to take care of a retreat center in the mountains, cleaning, cooking and hosting retreats. When we moved to Wilmington, NC, I started homeschooling my two children. Now that all 5 kids are in school, I use my organization and cleaning skills to help others.

Meet Tara

Professional Organizer, Minimalist Expert

Living with less has enriched my life so much, that I’m happy to help others in their own journeys. My specialty is minimizing and assisting others to be more intentional in regard to their possessions. With my family of 4, I have learned that living with little means we get to spend more time doing what we love. My desire is to help people shape the life they envision. When I’m not working, you’ll find me traveling, crafting, reading, doing yoga, or simply spending time outdoors with my family.

Background

I moved to Wilmington fifteen years ago upon attending UNCW and securing a degree in Middle Grades Education. My husband and I met while traveling in Africa, and we now live in Wilmington with our two sons. Managing a classroom taught me a lot about organization and intentionality, and I’m able to utilize those skills in my life at home as well as sessions with clients.
