Simple Bathroom Cabinet

Today I’m going to share with you a super simple way to organize your bathroom cabinet.  My demonstration cabinet is in our downstairs “guest” bathroom.  We do we use this ourselves all day long, being its the only bathroom downstairs.

Here’s a picture of the cabinet, and some encouragement to those of you who are still working on updating your house, like us!  Please ignore the far from gorgeous wallpaper ripping off the walls (the kids pull a little more off each time they use it, maybe its part of their routine).  One day, I will be sharing my bathroom makeovers with you.  But until then….

I like to use small plastic bins to organize under bathroom cabinets.  You can group items into categories, and cleanup is easy if toiletries leak out.  Find whatever suits your taste.  I found these at the Dollar Tree, $1 a piece!!!

I have the categories I needed for this space listed in the picture.  The kids brush their teeth and comb their hair in this bathroom in the mornings.  My husband shaves sometimes upstairs, sometimes downstairs, so we have shaving supplies in each bathroom.  Feminine hygiene products are kept in every bathroom as well.

Most frequently used items go in the front, occasionally used go in the back or middle (like house guest, feminine hygiene, and sunblock in the off-season).

Here’s my house guest basket. We have a guest room that is used fairly often, and this is the bathroom for guests (it is a full bath with a shower). I like to keep lotions, soaps, creams, even an extra sponge and toothbrush in case something is needed.  I have shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc. in the shower.  One day, I will make it fancy, but this works for now!

So there you go!  Pretty simple 🙂  If you’re organizing the kids’ cabinets or your own, you can apply the same principle.  Assign one plastic bin (or two) to each person.  If I needed to store more bins in this cabinet, I would utilize a nifty rack that would allow me to stack them one on top of the other.

Check out my post on how to organize hair dryers, curling irons, etc. under the cabinet.

And last but not least, make sure you only keep the toiletries you are using!!!!  Having too much is so often the reason bathroom cabinets are out of control.  If you have 10 bottles of half used Bath & Body Works lotions, use them up or out they go!  I’ve given them away to friends before. People are thrilled to have a new fragrance to use.
